I'm a Tradition Keeper

I mostly finished the U Book, which is a book of traditions at the University of Utah that no one really knows about. I decided last summer that I would complete the book because I'm a true Ute and I thought it would be a good way to make friends. I am a true Ute, but the make new friends didn't really work out. It turns out that a lot of the traditions people don't really want to do nor are they very good friend making experiences. Blake ended up doing the majority of them with me. He really should have just done his own U book. He's a great photographer and I thank him for putting up with me and the book this semester. I didn't make a ton of new friends but me and Blake sure are great friends now!

Things I learned from the U Book:
1. we  pay a lot in tuition and people really don't take advantage of all the opportunities the campus has to offer
2. sometimes taking pictures can be really awkward
3. not everything that is meant to be fun is fun
4. there is somethings that I will do again next year and somethings I will NEVER do again
5. looking at all the pictures I have some good memories and some really bad one... i didn't expect that. I thought every tradition would be a ton of fun!

Here is me and the pins I got. I was suppose to get three but I guess the last one was misspelled so they are giving it to me later (yeah right, I had to remind them twice to give me these ones) When I graduate, I get a recognized at the alumni dinner and a "pure crimson medallion."

Here are the pins up close

Here is a few highlights from the year:
This at Legacy of Lowell. I huge service project day. I drove to Ogden before I called my dad and found out the place was in Salt Lake... opps. When I first saw this picture I was in church. I was laughing so hard I had to step out of Sunday School. Enjoy.
Me and Blake at homecoming. Bad memory. We got in a big fight because I was mad my hair wouldn't curl and that we couldn't get a group together to go with us. I guess homecoming is for "high school kids" but living at home isn't... don't even get me started. I'm still bitter.
My first 5k! SO much fun. I ran really fast and got a runners high!
I was mad because Drew and Blake didn't want to dance. But I posted this because I want you to note the girl in the back right! That's Crimsons nights on Halloween for you.
The hunger banquet... super boring! I went alone and and these old ladies next to me even felt bad for me.
A fine arts performance. This was the Nutcracker and even Blake wouldn't go with me. Luckily Cait did. I was mad that no one would go but it's their loss because it was really cool!

So there you the U book. a bittersweet experience.

  1. Congratulations, you are a truer Ute than I am. I didn't do any of those things. Just football, basketball and class. You still go to class, don't you...?

  2. I wish BYU had something like that...or maybe they do and I just didn't know about it. They do however have the "hunger banquet" and I refused to go to that! Also that "girl" at the Halloween thing looks like a man.

  3. 1. Turns out U students are lame. Or maybe Mommy needed to use her car so no one could go...turns our borrowing Mommy's car isn't for high school kids either.
    2. I went to BYU's hunger banquet one year. I liked it. You should make friends with old people...they have money.
    3. Maybe if they made it into the Hunger Banquet Games it would be more fun.
