Early Christmas for the Mom of the Trio

This was quite the adjustment.  The pension (apartment?) too small and so we are living our of our suitcases.  Being the senior companion I get to use the tiny kitchen table as a desk and sleep on the floor.  Luckily a member brought over a mattress and a few spiders to sleep on.  Here's the background on my companions.

Hermana Craun is from Snowflake, Arizona.  She is the oldest of 6 and has 20 years (is 20 years old).  She was studying engineering at ASU.  You would never guess that by the way she talks.  She is full of energy and has a valley girl Spanish accent.  I catch her saying, "...como like..." in most of her sentences.  She loves singing Christmas songs and all around a ball of fun.

Hermana Twichell is from Centerville, Utah.  She is 19 and is the youngest of 4.  Her past is very complex....and I'm still trying to put it all together.  She was baptized just a year ago and grew up in the church (now do you understand what I mean by complex?)  Hermana Twichell is also full of energy and loves to tell everyone that we are from the states as if it wasn't already clear.  She's got a strong testimony of the healing power of baptisim and the importance of true intention.  She also enjoys singing in the shower.

I have been named the mom of the trio.  Claro?  Why can't I be the fun companion just once?

Sarmiento is a tiny little town where everyone knows everyone and everyone knows the 3 tall gringas walking around...Ok not quite yet.  It is a lot harder to teach with three so we are working hard to get members to do divisions? with us.  Its a little rough now concerning we have 5 active families in the branch.  I always wanted to be in a little branch and I sure did get it.  Its the type of branch where the president teaches Sunday School, gives a talk and plays the piano.  But I'm excited, because our recently returned missionary president is ready to help.  He is very involved in the work.  We have already had two meetings with him and he has done visits with us.

The miracle of the week is that we were searching for a [less actives].  At two of the houses we found new investigators.  One of which was a family and the other is Javier.  We passed by him again with the president and he wasn't there, but an inactive was there so we talked to him for just enough time for Javier to return.  (Miracle one because usually we just leave).  We left him with a Book of Mormon and when we went back again yesterday he was studying it.  He understood the chapter perfectly and told us that in these few days he had already felt a big change in his life.  He isn't grumpy anymore, ect.  The best part of all this was that when I asked him to say the closing prayer his face lit up and he smiled.  I hadn't seen him smile before that.  That is what this mission is all about.  Those are the moments I live for here.

Hermana Craun is in the red and Twichell in the Blue

(My mom sent Hannah her Christmas Eve PJs.  I guess she opened them early.  They are chili peppers that say, "Caliente"  Which means "Hot" in Spanish.  I picked out the Fabric, pretty clever huh?)

Hermana Craun sleeping in branch council...literally.
