It took me a lot longer to pack and store my stuff then I thought.
Since I am moving to Argentina, I had to move out of my apartment before coming home for Christmas. I took my last final Friday and then went to lunch with my friend Katie. I then hurried home and packed up all my stuff and went to work. Blah, Blah, pack, pack, thank you Blake and Cait. On Saturday, I went on my way to drop all my stuff off at my storage unit (thanks Heather). The plan was to get down there unload and be on our way to Washington by 1 but of course that didn't happen. Noah and I first unloaded the storage unit, went to Home Depot and went to Noah's apartment. We then noticed we bought the wrong lock so while Noah went back to Home Depot. I sweep out the unit and unloaded the car. I was waiting for Noah to get back to help me unload the mattress and box spring when it started to rain. With all my belongings exposed I began to panic. I went from mad to crying in 2 seconds. I, then with my huge muscle and adrenalin rush, carried both the mattress and box spring into the unit by myself (one at a time of course). Noah then fixed the lock. At 4 o'clock and we are still in Provo.... we stop by grandma's, load up the rest of my stuff in Champ, stop by Deb's and are finally on our way by 8 o'clock. Just 13 hours and we will be home for the holidays... not.
Noah and I stopped near Boise at this cool, kinda creepy hotel.
At 2 am we decided to stop in Glens Ferry, Idaho ( a little outside Boise) to sleep for the night. The hotel was very cute but a little Psycho reminiscent.
I wish I would have taken this picture at night, but this was our first impression of the place. But from the backside of it we were all like "is that a person?"-Noah "I don't think so.......... maybe....... hey is that a person, Noah?"- Me.
No it was just a penguin.
.... all the pictures were of clowns.... It was really cold until we turned on the heat and then it was blazing hot. Five dollars more for two beds. Thanks mom and dad!
Noah in front of our hotel room. They gave us a key. Like real key. Not on of those magnetic cards. A key.
Me in front of the sign.
Champ was really full.
Me and Noah inside the car leaving Glens Ferry. Notice all the clothes... I thought that I would just put the last few clothes I had hanging in my closet on top of everything in the car. It was a lot more then I thought. It turned out to be pretty white trash when Noah decided to cram my clothes into every little open spot so we could see out of some of the windows. My sweater were also used as lumbar support.
Me showing how weighted down Champ was for the trip.
There was a lot of snow so we had to drive real slow and put chains on.
Then the hell began. Sunday morning we went to church. It was a very friendly ward. Being the first time either one of us had really checked out a hotel room we had to run back after sacrament meeting because we forgot that check out time was 11. We then left on our way. When we hit the mountains of Oregon the roads got pretty bad because of the snow. I was chugging along at about 30 mph for an hour and a half. This should be Champs last trip and I didn't want anything to jeopardize Champ making it. Then the semi-truck right in front of me stopped in the left hand lane and started rolling backwards down the mountain. This forced me to throw Champ in reverse and do the same. I then tried to drive forward into the right hand lane but now Champ had lost all traction and momentum, so we spurted a little and finally made it over to the right hand lane and up. As we drove down and mountain and the snow cleared me and Noah started guessing what time we would make it home. I guessed 10:03 and he guesses 10:45. Everything was great until we hit Yakima. Then it started snowing again and our parents (who had been calling or texting every ten minutes) called to tell us THE pass had closed (Snoqualmie pass). So we had to find a alternate route or stay, most likely, the week in Yakima until the snow cleared. We decided to buy chains and other survival gear at Walmart. That took us an hour. The good news is a nice man helped us put on the chains. We then hopped on route 12. It took us 2 hours to go 66 miles. We finally arrived home about 3 am. Over doubling the time it should have taken us from Boise....
Exciting snow road we looked at for hours.
