Marcela 5.27.13

We met Marcela when she came to church with her boyfriend, Marcelo, who is less active.  We went to their house after church and she didn't meet with us.  But when we went back again she came out.  She had a ton of questions!  She progressed really fast...like in 4 weeks since we met she was baptized.  But we knew something was up because she was pretty feisty with Marclo  He works on some boat so he is gone for long periods of time and then is home for awhile.  Well last Thursday or so he left and right before he asked Marcela to marry him.  She said no and he text us to tell us.  We were a little confused as to why she would move across the country leaving her kids and family to live with a guy she didn't want to marry.  I guess Marcelo has some gambling and drinking problems.  When we went over there Wednesday to meet with Marcela we read Mosiah 18 and asked her what was stopping her from getting baptized.  She responded, "nothing".  So we started planning her baptism.  She had already started making a white skirt, which I'm pretty sure shows a strong desire.  We had only three days to plan her baptism so it was high stress.  It got crazy when she said she wouldn't be able to make it to her interview.  We thought she didn't understand how important it was.  But she did because an hour or two before she asked for work off and made it.  She had a to work so we had a fast baptism during the siesta, lets just say it was a small baptism.  I was amazed how she made a decision and went with it.  She told us that when she found out all of Marcelo's problems she was mad, but now she knows she moved to find the church.  I am impressed how fast she has changed and accepted the gospel.  There is still a lot she doesn't understand so the ward has been a little hard on us but...how much did you know at 8?
